cant believe ive not posted for 1.5months. im back with lots of stories and updates.
with the help of my sister, friends and some library books, i have planted my first vegetable garden.
i was nervous starting it as it was my first garden. however, a close friend and avid urban farmer reassured me that if i provide love, water and sunlight, my garden would flourish. she was indeed correct. (thanks L!)
i started the greens from seed: note the spinach. and the others from 3-4” plants. i’ve already made a few salads from the garden and am excited for the summer’s yield.

red blends
this past weekend, i adventured in the rain to a bottle your own event at a local winery. i am continued to be amazed by the number of local wineries with excellent wine. i arrived with a case of empty bottles of wine and we filled them with a red blend~ they corked and labeled the bottles as well.
filling a 750ml bottle is $5 and if you dont have your own bottle, you can buy one for $1. i’ve already recruited many friends for the next one in may.
so who’s with me?
brooklyn slate company
for years, i’ve wanted to buy a vintage birdcage for a garden. this sunday was a monumental day as i purchased the most perfect one at ‘antiques by the bay’. i will be moving into a little apt cottage this week where the garden doubles the footprint.
moonlighting
turning your hobbies into a moonlighting ‘job’ is ideal. my sister plans to open and actively work on her etsy account. as a talented arts & crafter, this is the perfect way for her to share her creations with the e-world. i plan to continue volunteering at the local farmers market. i say volunteering, because i do not get paid. however, i get something better than $— fresh produce.

two thousand and eleven
it’s easy to be distracted during the holidays. with lights, parties, gifts, baking—stimulation of all senses is overwhelming. i need to remember to count my blessings and be sure to pay it forward.
